Six changes made in Odisha U-23 cricket team

Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) today effected six changes in the State Under-23 team for their third-round match of the Col C K Nayudu Trophy Plate Group-B match to be played against Uttar Pradesh at Veer Surendra Sai Stadium in Sambalpur from October 26 to 29, 2017.

Amrit Khatua, Biswajit Bhuyan, Nirnimesh Jena, Abhilas Semwal, Asmit Rout and Abhijit Ghana were included in the 15-member team for the upcoming match. They replaced Sandeep Pattanaik, Subhranshu Senapati, Abinash Nayak, Venkatesh Vande (wk), Jamala Bhanjan Mohapatra and Subham Nayak, who were in the squad for the second round match against Madhya Pradesh.

Amrit Khatua was in the squad for the first-round match against Chhattisgarh, but did not get the chance to play. Sandeep Pattanaik and Subhranshu Senapati returned to the state Ranji team along with off-spinner Subham Nayak.

Among the three new players to have been included in the U-23 team, medium-pacer Abhijit Semwal is a professional from other state and played six matches for Jawant Cricket Club in Sir Mirza Ismail Shield First Division League at Bangalore in 2015. Nirnimesh Jena and Abhijit Ghana belong to Angul and Cuttack respectively.
